Committees
The PTSA often works in committees, both standing and ad hoc, for a few reasons. More people share the workload, volunteers get to know each other and good ideas come from collaboration.
Ad Hoc PTSA Committees

20th Anniversary CommitteeFormed in 2011 to highlight, educate and celebrate the 20th anniversary of International School. Several assemblies are in progress focusing on the unique traits of IS.
The October assembly looked at the history of IS and a video discussing the founding of IS was shown.
CommunicationsThe PTSA website, newsletter, bulletin boards and directory are all created and managed by volunteers. This year, an ad hoc committee consisting of executive board members and communications volunteers was formed. The purpose of the committee is to study our current communications methods including how we receive information as well as how we disseminate it. The goals are two-fold: streamline the information-gathering process to better inform parents and find easy-to-use tools to make the process quicker and easier for volunteers.
Standing PTSA CommitteesFundraisingIn order to provide the various programs, events and grants each year, the PTSA has to raise money. This committee is charged with finding ways to raise enough funds to support our programs and recurring grants each year. If new programs or grants are being considered, this committee helps them become reality.
Nominating CommitteeThis committee is mandated in the PTA Standing Rules to ensure a fair and open election of officers. Committee members are volunteers or appointees by the current outgoing executive board members. The committee follows rules in finding candidates for open executive positions for the following year.
School CommitteesPDCProgram Delivery Council (PDC) is a committee made up of parents, teachers and students representing the range of ages and interest in the school. This committee discusses new ideas or improvements and chooses a few to work on each year. PDC Representatives report their findings and progress at PTSA meetings throughout the year.
